The Holiday Home-Adding holiday sparkle by using what you have

The holidays are fast approaching and most of us are too busy to think about decorating.  How do you make your home more inviting and cheerful for the holidays?  You can do this by enhancing your everyday accessories and furnishings.  Make a very small investment in a few holiday accent items and you can be ready for the holidays with style and without breaking the bank.

Here are some simple ideas everyone can use:

Front Door Wreath

Most of us have a front door wreath that we use all year long.  By making a few changes, this wreath can also welcome guests to your holiday home.  Replace its bow making a simple one out of gold wired ribbon.  Add holiday picks with frosted guided fruits or pinecones, small gift boxes or ornaments, and your everyday wreath has been transformed into a holiday beauty!

Plain candlesticks can be dressed up to give any room instant holiday ambiance.  Use white or off white tapers, which are desirable all year ling.  For holiday pizzazz, add a bow to the base of each candlestick.  Use wired ribbon to create crisp, simple bows.  For a wonderful finishing touch, use wire to add a small ornament to the center of each bow.

Glass Bowls

Make your plain bowl sparkle by adding colorful holiday ornaments to them.  Your glass bowl can also be filled with nuts, candy, or punch.  Also glass bows can house a wonderful array of holiday scented potpourri.

Silk Plant Arrangements

Silk plant arrangements are so realistic that we have them in the house all year long.  By adding holiday picks, ornaments, and making beautiful bows out of metallic wired ribbon, these arrangements will fit right in and enhance your holiday décor.

Baskets are the perfect multi-faceted decoration for the holidays.  Just add a wonderful wired ribbon bow and you’re set!  You can put anything in it and it looks great…holiday ornaments, nuts, candy, napkins, breads, baked goods.  The possibilities are endless, so enjoy!

You use trays during the holidays when entertaining your guests.  Make them more appealing by adding doilies and holiday ornaments to enhance the food being served.  Trays also make great centerpieces.  Add pillar candles, holiday ornaments and colorful glass beads in gold, silver or green to bring another form of holiday décor to the festivities.

Give your everyday vases the holiday touch.  Fill them with gold sprayed curly willow.  Add an element of surprise by using dries eucalyptus or curly bamboo with an ornament on top.  You can also use pine branches, which give off a wonderful scent.  Tie a ribbon around the vase for a festive look.

Over The Top

Why not add some glitz to your chandelier?  Add some holiday ornaments and garlands of pearls and crystals to give it sparkle.  The chandelier will look so good you might want to leave it all year long!

Finishing Touches

Scents and sounds will create a wonderful mood for this festive season.  Music adds joy to the holidays.  Make sure you and your loved ones surround yourselves with it.  And, don’t forget scented candles and potpourri (pine, cinnamon, etc.) to give your guests even more holiday spirit.

It will be the little touches that make your home inviting and welcoming to your friends and family.  So enjoy, have fun, and decorate your home for the holidays with style!
